"A FRINGE OF HER OWN"

A COLLECTION OF RITUAL OBJECTS FOR WOMEN, 2017- 19

Throughout Jewish history, religious rituals and ceremonial objects have reflected the male dominance of Judaism. With a growing need to provide a feminine interpretation of patriarchal religious practice, this project explores the relevance and essence of ritual objects from the female Jewish perspective by deconstructing and redesigning them to reflect feminine consciousness and nature. These forms embody distinct symbolism that links them to an ancient tradition while referring to feminine ritual, text, material, gestures and the feminine form. They are designed to connect women to their tradition and heritage without forcing the use of male objects.
